Privacy Policy

Our privacy approach

SalahCue is designed so its core prayer features work without an account or advertising. Prayer calculations are performed on your device. Your saved location, calculation settings, reminder preferences, widget data, and individual prayer records are stored locally on your device and are not uploaded by the core app.

The optional Prayer Circles feature uses a Supabase-hosted service only when you choose to sign in. This policy explains both the local core app and that optional service.

Information processed on your device

• Location: If you grant permission, SalahCue accesses foreground location and coordinates to calculate prayer times, determine Qibla direction, and label your selected city. Exact coordinates are stored in app preferences on your device and are not sent to SalahCue’s Prayer Circles service.
• Prayer preferences and records: Calculation method, madhhab, offsets, reminder selections, notification sound, language, theme, and the status you record for each prayer are stored locally.
• Compass information: Device heading is used in real time to display Qibla direction and is not stored or uploaded.
• Notifications: With permission, SalahCue schedules prayer reminders locally through your operating system. Notification settings and schedules remain on your device.
• Widgets and audio: The app supplies prayer information to its local home-screen widgets and plays bundled reminder sounds. SalahCue does not record audio or use your microphone.

Optional Prayer Circles data

If you use Prayer Circles, SalahCue and its service provider Supabase process:

• your email address, authentication session, and account identifier;
• your chosen display name, generated avatar seed, and private friend code;
• circle names, memberships, ownership, and invite codes;
• friend requests, accepted friendships, blocks, and safety reports;
• an aggregate daily prayer score from 0 to 5 for up to approximately the previous 35 days; and
• technical records necessary to authenticate, secure, and operate the service.

Members of a circle can see your display name and aggregate daily and weekly scores. Accepted friends can see your display name, avatar, and friend code. Safety reports are limited to service moderators. Users cannot see which individual prayers you recorded, your exact location, your calculated prayer times, or your reminder settings.

How information is used

Information is used only to provide requested app functions: calculating prayer times and Qibla direction, saving preferences, scheduling reminders, displaying widgets, authenticating Prayer Circles accounts, managing private circles, and showing aggregate leaderboards. SalahCue does not sell personal information, use advertising identifiers, or display behavioral advertising.

Analytics and tracking

The current release does not transmit analytics, advertising data, or cross-app tracking information. A local analytics preference may appear in app settings, but enabling it does not cause the current release to send analytics.

Service providers and disclosure

Supabase provides authentication, database, and real-time infrastructure for optional Prayer Circles. Apple or Google may process information when they distribute the app, deliver notifications, provide operating-system location services, or handle device backups under their own policies. SalahCue may disclose information if required by law, to protect users or the service, or as part of a business transfer subject to appropriate safeguards.

Retention and deletion

Local app data remains until you change it, clear app data, or delete SalahCue, subject to operating-system backups. Prayer Circles data is retained while your account is active and as needed for security, legal compliance, and service integrity. You can permanently delete your Prayer Circles account from inside the Prayer Circles screen; this removes your profile, memberships, and synced scores. Local prayer history remains on your device unless you remove it separately.

Security

SalahCue uses platform protections and Supabase security controls intended to protect information. No storage or transmission system can be guaranteed completely secure.

Children

SalahCue is not directed to children under 13, and Prayer Circles should not be used by a child under 13 without the involvement and consent of a parent or guardian. If you believe a child provided personal information improperly, contact us so we can review and delete it.

International processing

Prayer Circles information may be processed in countries other than your own where Supabase and its infrastructure providers operate. Those locations may have different data-protection laws.

Your choices and rights

You may deny or revoke location and notification permissions in system settings, use core features without Prayer Circles, sign out, change your display name, leave circles where supported, or delete your Prayer Circles account. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or obtain a copy of personal information.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as SalahCue changes. The effective date above will be revised when material changes are published.
